when i am not politically active i get hopeless and sometimes self-destructive.
well, being active doesnt necessarily mean i have a continual sense of hope and purpose. but it feels good to at least fucking TRY to change things.
a semi-recent college grad, i have a bachelor's in psychology, art, and global studies.
i just spent my final college year in senegal (west africa). see archives for details. the academic program left much to be desired, but my personal goals were fulfilled and to my and everyone's surprise, i got married. his name is ponge.
we are doing well, and i am learning the ways of a real relationship. ... i'm a cashier at a food co-operative right now, which isn't what i want to be doing but it's a job with an institution with which i have a minimum of personal/ideological conflicts - and its a segway until i figure out what the hell it is i do want to be doing. madison, mpls, chi-town, portland...ideally i'd be getting paid to organize around social/enviro justice issues. but its also important for me to be around my family (ma, bro, sis, niece, etc.) but there aren't many of those sorts of jobs in madison, so..wtf? just floating along, seeking memebership in a housing co-operative where i hope to find the ever sought Community..
oh, what is curiosekwe, anyway? well. my handle used to be curiosity, for the longest time. because i have sisyphusian curiosity ... my deepest need is to learn and understand. a few years ago, i started to connect with waswagoning, a space on an ojibwe res in northern wisconsin; and with the ogitchedowekwe, the "warrior women." well, my name (kelly) is celtic and means "warrior woman." so i tagged "ekwe" (woman) with curiosity. its pronounced kyoor-E-oss-E-kwAY.
